What is BASYP?

BASYP or Beat Aussie Streets Youth Programs is a not for profit incorporated association set up to develop and support young people using the sport of wrestling.

Some of the programs owned and managed by BASYP include;

  • Beat Aussie Streets Every Day, a 10 week/session program for life skills and mental health.

  • Road trips, a chance for young elite wrestlers to share their sport, stories and passions with kids in remote and regional areas of Australia.

  • "Dingoes wrestling team", support for young wrestlers to take on the world! You'll find Dingoes at major events like the Tallinn Open in Estonia, Johnny Ritz Big 5 in South Africa and World championships!

  • Safe Together, Strong Together, a program to help communities prevent radicalisation of young people using sport and cultural exchange.

  • City of Champions, a 5 week series of free training sessions and activities for young people to enjoy wrestling and make friends.

Plus many more!

How did it come about?

BASYP was born out of BASED wrestling from the issue that the programs and young people were not being supported the way it was intended.

In late 2022 the decision was made that the programs needed to be separate from the equipment, media, event support and all this other stuff in order for the main goal of helping young people to be achieved.

What's the goal?

BASYP is all about helping young people grow into successful and happy adults, whatever that looks like for them.

We do this by supporting clubs, communities and organisations to take actions that improve things for young people using wrestling as a vehicle.

We support competitions, workshops, elite athletes and community events to create a safe, fun and inclusive space and sport.
